German Companies Set up Shop in Southern Sweden
After months of groundwork and research, two German film service companies recently opened offices in Malmö – Multi Rent AB, a purveyor of film transport and special equipment, an d Pyro Art, a SFX and pyrotechnics specialist and camera-car rental company.
Michael Meierhof, managing director of Multi-Rent in Sweden originally approached the OFC in March 2006. “The overall support by the Oresund film Commission and the City of Malmö was very helpful and convinced me to establish the company in the region of Skåne,” he says.
Multi Rent AB is a service partner for all kinds of media production. Meierhof has 14 years of experience leasing special vehicles for the TV/movie business. The company’s production services include everything from make-up, hairdressing and wardrobe trucks to trailers, camera boats and security, with guaranteed on-time delivery, 24/7.
As the name would imply, Pyro Art, the other German shop now operating in Southern Sweden, is a specialist in pyrotechnics and special effects. With 14 years in the business himself, Eric Zumkley, the company’s owner, guarantees a full range of services from environmental and fire effects to mechanical effects, vehicles, sets, miniatures and much more.
The two companies not only target local producers but also plan to market Southern Sweden as a shooting location among their clients in Germany and convince German producers to shoot in Sweden. Bringing in business for themselves, they will also be a valuable addition to the OFC’s efforts to reach the German TV market.
